Many people are looking for an easy and convenient way to hook up their portable music players in the car. Smartphones, mp3 players and iPods give people a choice over traditional radio. Commercials and overplayed songs make radio almost unlistenable at times. An easy way to combat this is to buy an FM modulator. A wireless FM modulator will give you an easy way to broadcast your music to your car's radio.

A stereo fm modulator converts audio from a CD player, mp3 player, TV, DVD player, or smartphone to RF signals. These signals are then picked up by an FM receiver and played on the radio. The modulator and radio must be tuned to the same frequency for the music to be heard. Static filled or unused stations work the best because you don't have to compete with large radio stations.

With a wireless FM modulator you can have music playing from a computer, like Pandora or iTunes, and broadcast it throughout the entire home. If you have a pool or a nice yard, you can still listen to same music with a simple FM radio. This can create a simple and easy party in no time at all. Everyone can listen to the same music no matter where they are.

Can any FM modulator give you the same quality audio and added benefits? Not necessarily. Most FM modulators only transmit a few feet, which makes their performance sub-par in your home and automobile. And many have difficulty overcoming even the weakest static signals, often making your music quality terrible.

The best FM modulator can easily broadcast audio for up to 150 feet. This will give you the clear, static free audio that you're looking for. With this transmission power you can broadcast music throughout the house, to the backyard or to the pool area. It's very easy to create a quick party with a wireless FM modulator.

Wireless FM modulators should also be a universal device. A good modulator will be able to broadcast audio from any device with a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Some modulators are only compatible with iPods, which severely limits the ways in which you can use it. Versatility and ease of use are what set apart the best FM modulators from the low quality units.

Wired MP3 FM Modulator - A Better Choice Exists

| Tuesday, July 26, 2011
By James M. Boersma

Using a wired MP3 FM modulator is a great alternative to listening to commercial radio when driving from one location to the next. But what happens when you want to use it in your home, work or on vacation outside of your vehicle?

Wireless modulators (also called FM transmitters) require no installation and can be used in virtually any situation. They are very convenient for broadcasting audio throughout a home, backyard, office, etc. The following are few examples of how a wireless modulator can be used outside of the car:

1. You can broadcast sound from any TV to an FM radio. This could be a convenient application if you are trying to watch TV late at night without disturbing the other people in your home. By broadcasting the audio to a nearby FM radio, the audio of the room can be greatly diminished but still allowing you to enjoy the program. Of course if you bought a wireless FM headset, you could eliminate the overall sound in the room completely.

2. Normally if you want music throughout your entire house or apartment you have to blast your music very loud. This may be fine if you live in a rural area, but if not you will most likely disturb your neighbors. A better way to get music throughout your entire house would be to use an FM transmitter and a few FM radios. This way you can easily move around the house and always listen to the same music.

3. The same concept can also be used in the backyard or at the beach. It is very easy to set up a quick dance party, so that a large group of people can all enjoy the same music.

When you limit yourself to just one vehicle with a wired modulator, all of these options become impossible. An MP3 wireless FM modulator can be very useful, but it's very important to purchase a quality modulator. Cheap wireless modulators can only broadcast a few feet, while quality units can easily go over 100ft.

The fact of the matter is a wired MP3 FM modulator is not a portable device, limiting its usefulness to your automobile. With a quality FM transmitter (wireless MP3 FM modulator) you can have the same audio with a plethora of options in which to use it. Because this is so obvious, one has to wonder: why even bother purchasing a limited product when you can get more bang for your buck with a quality FM transmitter?

Dissemination Of News Through Radio Broadcasting

|
By Gian Arizmendi

Advancements in communication technology, through televisions and internet, have provided us with easier and faster access to the events happening around the globe. Despite this, it is undeniable that radio broadcasting, through the use of radio sets, is still an integral part in providing the public with up-to date news and information as well as entertainment.

The one way transmission over radio waves of information in order to reach a wide audience is the basic definition of radio broadcasting. In order to be able to do this, cable FM, local wire networks, satellite and the web are all linked together to broadcast a common programming. Radio broadcasting history dated back in 1899 when by Guglielmo Marconi set-up a wireless communication between France and England.

In 1906 it was claimed that Reginald Aubrey Fessenden, a naturalized American citizen born in Canada, performed the first radio transmissions of voice and music which occurred on Christmas Eve during said year. Since then, various experiments on radio communication have been done-from devices that allow only two parties to communicate to more advance projects allowing signal to be transmitted to larger audiences.

Station 8MK in Detroit, Michigan was the first ever news bulletin broadcasted to the public in August of 1920. Entertainment over the airwaves from Marconi, Institute at Wrisstle was then sent out through radio broadcast by the year 1922. Afterwards, around 1930's to the late 1940's radio broadcasting experienced its "golden age". The year 1980 ended this golden age through to the decrease in popularity of radio broadcasts brought about by the increase in the popularity of the television. This decline in popularity however was solved in the 90's when FM broadcasts started changing their formats and included music, news, weather, and sports broadcast. By this time, FM stations began dominating the market.

Radio sets, then and now are still the indispensible tools used in providing radio broadcasting to the public. This is despite the fact that people also have easier access to televisions and internet. As we all know, radios are great company for anyone anywhere and wherever they are. One can listen to radio sets may they be at home, in the office, in the car driving as well as in shopping malls and parks.

There are still a number of times where radios are deemed necessary despite the popularity of television in terms of entertainment, news, and sports event duties. One of the most important functions of radio sets is that they provide up to date information, news, and upcoming events vital to the community. Also, radio phone-ins are opted by individuals who want to have their voices and opinions to be heard. For those who have limited or no access to television, radio sets are still considered the next best thing.

Radio broadcasting nowadays comes in different types depending on the target market of the radio station. The contents of the broadcast greatly depend in the audience. Broadcasting can either be a National Radio, Regional Radio station, a Local Radio, or a Community radio. These types are specific and only cover a specific region. An example of this is the difference in the type of news covered by a national and community radio. The first one covers national news while the latter cover news that is most likely seen in the local community newspaper. Internet, cable and satellite stations, hospital, student or university campus radio, and/or pirate radio stations are other types of broadcasting being practiced

Radio sets are still indispensable to our day-to-day living. With its contributions not only in the propagation of information but in providing entertainment as well, radio broadcasting is still a thriving community that is still supported by people.

Disadvantages Of A Wired FM Modulator

| Monday, July 25, 2011
By James M. Boersma

Not being able to use an mp3 player in the car can be frustrating. Today's portable devices were made specifically for listening to music on the go, but unfortunately many older vehicles weren't made to coexist with an mp3 player seamlessly. To get around this obstacle, the FM modulator is a great choice.

Most people assume that wired FM modulators - as opposed to wireless FM modulators - are the way to go. This is usually because people believe the wired connection will give them better audio quality. The truth is that both wired and wireless modulators can have great or poor audio quality based on the quality of the modulator itself. The following are some of the pros and cons associated with wired FM modulators:

Pros of a wired FM modulator

1. Located in a safe location (the dash)

2. Car powers the unit

3. Above average audio quality

Cons of a wired FM modulator

1. Money to get the unit installed

2. Installing it by yourself requires electrical and wiring knowledge

3. Possible electrical damage if modulator is installed wrong

4. You must uninstall everything if it breaks

5. Only works in one vehicle

6. Possible corrosion to the wires over time

7. Inconvenient for someone if they are planning to sell their vehicle

The time and money it takes to install an wired FM modulator really diminishes its value. Plus you also have to consider the fact that it can only be used in one vehicle. A wireless FM modulator can be used in almost countless locations.

Quality wireless FM modulators can also have fantastic audio clarity. To make sure you get the best wireless modulator, make sure the unit can broadcast up to 150 feet in stereo. Some wireless FM modulators boast huge transmission distances that are only in mono. Stereo sound is important for anyone who wants the best possible audio from a modulator.

Taking the time to shop around for a quality FM modulator can save you hours of frustration, as well as assuring that once you begin to use the product it will perform the way you desire.

Tips For Scuba Diving - What You Need To Know To Have Fun And Be Safe

| Tuesday, July 19, 2011
By Jeff A. Gamble

Generally when a student is first starting out learning scuba diving, the details can be inundating. They are obviously thrilled with what is coming up and can hardly wait to dive. We can realize the emotions, but it is crucial not just to be sensitive to the data but to understand the foundation it is based on. The issue of reliable and credible information has been brought to the forefront with the internet for obvious reasons. At times responsible people may circulate data that is less than correct or accurate. Just remember to be positive that your resources are from a reliable source.

We have talked about the subject of air consumption and the need to be efficient at it in other articles. This is in fact a renowned topic for those that have been diving for quite some time. The points are centered on aiding the novice scuba diver to a better comprehension of the importance of breathing technique and the recognition of the importance of air usage in general. When you are diving, it would behoove you to expend as little energy as possible. After you have some diving under your belt, try not to use your arms whenever you can. You should rely heavily on your fins. Assume a relaxed posture for your arms and let your fins take on the effort; hence your air intake will lessen.

When doing a 15 foot safety stop, it is important to be neutrally buoyant at all times. You want to begin at the surface level of the water, and strap on a virtually empty oxygen tank for this type of test. People that are unable to utilize a nearly empty tank may go a different route which includes attending negative buoyancy at the surface with a full tank, along with half full lungs and a buoyancy compensator that has no air.

You should begin the equalization process early in your dive and do it repetitively throughout. Some skilled divers will propose that you start the equalization procedure prior to getting into the water. This will give your ears the familiarity with what is about to take place. But you absolutely should do this once in the water and keep doing it every couple of feet or so. You can keep away from ear issues while going down and this is clearly a plus. Should you find that one ear is not equalizing quite enough, then tilt your head with the troublesome ear pointing toward the surface.

Complacency is one of the primary problems that most veteran divers run into because they do not think anything can go wrong. People that think like this may believe that they do not need extra help from others, and they can handle any problem that comes their way. This type of thinking is very lackadaisical and could lead to serious complications. You can actually stop properly preparing for a dive that you are about to take, which could lead to problems or serious scenarios that you won't be able to handle.

Displacing the liquids is important because you don't want these liquids corroding the metal parts of your phone.

There are situations when a person will drop their unit in coffee or juice, which is very sticky and thick. To prevent stickiness in the unit, it is best to soak the device in distilled water for a few minutes to get rid of the stickiness. Once this is gone, then the unit can be soaked in alcohol to displace the water and prevent corrosion.

After three minutes of soaking, remove the device from the alcohol and place it on a dry highly absorbent cloth to dry. You can help it along by drying off parts of it with earbuds. It should take about two hours to dry completely. Shake the device once in a while to dislodge any alcohol that is stuck in hard to reach places.

Using a hair dryer at its cool setting will help you dry your cellular device faster. It is best to use a cool setting so that plastic parts inside the unit do not melt. Once you are sure the entire unit is dry, reinstall the battery and sim card and test the unit.

When your unit becomes waterlogged, this is one of the most tried and tested ways that have proven to be successful when learning how to fix a phone with water damage. But if this procedure is not successful, then you may have to bring it to a repair shop to be looked at by a professional technician.

The Ongoing Advancement Of Radio Technology

| Wednesday, July 6, 2011
By Lewis Gil

Radio receivers are electronic circuits that detect, demodulate and amplify transmitted signals. These signals are then converted into forms usable for the consumer such as sound, pictures, digital data, measurement values, navigational positions, etc. Radio receivers come in various types and among these are audio and high fidelity audio receivers, satellite television receivers, and crystal radio receivers or radio sets.

An AV receiver is a type of receiver which uses an amplifier, a preamp/processor, and an FM/AM tuner. Along with audio and high fidelity audio receivers, this type of receiver is the most commonly used type especially by home stereo listeners and audio and home theatre system enthusiasts. The increased need in better audio is brought about by the increasing number of high definition television and home theatre systems found in the market. On the other hand, there are also the satellite television receivers which can be considered as the most widely used radio receiver in the world today. This type of radio receivers is used to receive television programming from communication satellite found din the outer space. Given the fact that almost all homes in the world have at least one television set at home, it is no wonder that this type are the most popular and widely used.

Used in the reception of modulated AM/FM signals, crystal radio receivers or radio sets as they are commonly known are considered as the simplest type of radio receiver. The first example of this radio sets are the transistor radios popular during the early 1900's. These days, AM and FM radios are being integrated as parts of more common music and sound sources which includes cassette players, DVD/CD players, MP3 CD, USB key players. Other popular types of radio receivers include the communications receivers, specialized-used receivers, measuring receivers, and scanners. All these types of radio receivers are commonly used fro the purpose of entertainment. However, it is also important to note, that besides entertainment, these are also being used as tools fro business as well as security purposes.

The discovery of electromagnetic waves in 1850 by James Clerk Maxwell led to the invention of the first ever radio receiver. Heinrich Hertz in 1887 further demonstrated the function of electromagnetic waves trough using spark gas equipment which he used to transmit and received radio waves. By the year 1986, Alexander Stepanovich Popov designed the first radio receiver and was introduced to the public through the All Russia Exhibition. The experiment showed the process detecting an electromagnetic signal by a wireless device and then converting it to a usable form, much like the way our modern mobile phones work.

The technology of receivers is continuously moving forward in the present time. This technology is gradually but regularly improving from the initial discovery of the electromagnetic waves to the invention of transistor radios to further improvements made to radio sets. Nowadays, a more popular form commonly used in the digital world is digital signal processing. This is a process of wherein signals are being converted to a digital stream and then are mathematically manipulated. Functions usually performed by an analogue intermediate frequency stage can also now be processed through the different soft wares that have been developed.

Communication and entertainment have been easier and more accessible to consumers due to the different improvements in the radio receiver technology. From the first transistors, radio receiver technology has evolved leading to the invention of different devices such as radio sets, television sets and cellphones which have also become an integral part of everybody's lives.

Satellite Radio: Is It Expensive?

| Sunday, July 3, 2011
By Owen Jones

Satellite radio is highly popular these days and it is growing in popularity more and more every day. If you are not certain what satellite radio is, you can look at it like cable or satellite television. In essence, satellite radio is a subscription only service. It has a colossal assortment of radio stations that are not accessible on the ordinary AM or FM services.

If you are wondering about how much satellite radio costs, then the answer is the maddening one: it depends. It depends, because there are a number of variables, such as the apparatus itself, installation fees and monthly fees. Equipment from the various manufacturers varies a lot as well.

For example, Bose is more expensive than a Chinese item from Walmart. Installation charges vary depending on where you live and who you use and the monthly fee will depend on which package or bundle you select. So, regrettably, the answer is: it depends.

There is also a one-off 'activation fee'. This costs about $15 if you do it by phone and about $5 if you it over the Internet. However, the push is on to get you signed up, so there are frequently promotions on doing away with this outrageous rip-off fee. As if you will not be paying enough in monthly charges for the rest of your life!

If you want to install satellite radio in your car, you have two alternatives, if your existing radio is not 'satellite ready'. You can either buy a new car stereo that is 'satellite ready' or you can purchase a satellite signal receiver and decoder unit and plug it into your present radio. This decoder can be hidden away under the driver's seat or stashed in the trunk of the car. You will also need a new antenna on the roof.

Costs vary outrageously, but let's average it out at $600 for a good, new, satellite-enabled, ready to go stereo fitted and working or $350 for a cheap system using your own radio, but also ready to receive satellite broadcasts. So, you could say, on average, for around $500 you can be listening to satellite broadcasts.

However, just as with laptop computer prices, demand creates downward pressure on prices and by the time you read this piece, the price could have halved. Let's hope so.

Portable satellite radio receivers can be a little cheaper, mostly because there are no installation fees and come out at about $400.

Then there are the monthly subscription charges. As I said above, this depends on the package you select. The average charge is $10-$15 a month, but specialized channels can be extra. For instance, you could receive the Playboy channel for free at one time, but the normal charge is $2.95 per month.

Sport may cost more, especially for a finals match. Sometimes, you can get a discount for paying annually and Sirius even has a one-off, lifetime option at $500. Perhaps the best thing to do is keep an eye on the promotional offers and be ready to pounce quickly when a fitting one comes up.
